A Day in Sóller

The town of Sóller is situated on the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is just a trip with the heritage train away from the island’s main village, Palma. Sunny Sóller is known for its rich plantations of oranges and lemons. The trees and fruits can be seen from everywhere. It is also a nice place to relax and look around. The port area is charming and peaceful. There is also some exciting art nouveau architecture (modernism in Spanish) to be found, a prime example being the front facade of the cathedral (picture 4). Overall, it is a pleasant place to spend a few hours in.

Island of Eternal Spring

Fuerteventura and the other islands of the Canaries are also sometimes called “Islands of the Eternal Spring” because the temperature around here stays constant at around 19 to 24 degrees. That’s precisely why many Europeans like to come here, especially in wintertime, because the weather tends to stay pleasant and enjoyable. Rain is very seldom, and you can still go for a swim in November. Also, the nature is just stunning.

The following pictures were shot on location in the fall of 2018.

Views of El Cotillo

El Cotillo is a pretty quiet town on the northwestern coast of Fuerteventura. The west coast, in particular, has the reputation of being very windy, so the village is very popular with surfers, who take advantage of the high waves on the coast. In general, the area is less touristy than other parts of the Canaries. Nonetheless, it offers all the amenities of modern tourism with great restaurants and lovely little and more modern hotels. Also, the town itself is just charming.

Travelling Fuerteventura

Traveling Fuerteventura, you discover primarily barren and dry land, but still, there is a lot going on. The goats, for example, roam many parts of the island and provide milk for one of the culinary specialties here, goat cheese. Also, there are beautiful old windmills to find, and if you dig more deeply, nature becomes more and more diverse, with sandy beaches and more mountainous regions. It’s worth it to travel to the inner part of Fuerteventura as well, as enchanting as the coast often is.
