Discovering Palma

When travelling to the island of Mallorca you certainly will have some kind of a meet and greet with its capital city – Palma de Mallorca. In the center of its old town the Gothic style cathedral is situated, which can be seen from afar and is even more stunning close up and from inside. Similar as Barcelona on the mainland there is a lot of modernismo (Spanish Jugendstil / art nouveau) style buildings to be discovered. After your sightseeing tour you can take a nap at the beach or at one of the beautiful parks of the city.

A Day in Sóller

The town of Sóller is situated on the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is just a trip with the heritage train away from the main town of the island called Palma. Sunny Sóller is known for rich plantations of oranges and lemons. The trees and fruits can be seen from everywhere. It is also a nice place to relax and look around. The port area is especially nice and peaceful. There is also some interesting art nouveau architecture (modernismo in Spanish) to be found, a prime example being the front facade of the cathedral (picture 4). All in all a pleasant place to spend a few hours in.
