The town of Sóller is situated on the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is just a trip with the heritage train away from the island’s main village, Palma. Sunny Sóller is known for its rich plantations of oranges and lemons. The trees and fruits can be seen from everywhere. It is also a nice place to relax and look around. The port area is charming and peaceful. There is also some exciting art nouveau architecture (modernism in Spanish) to be found, a prime example being the front facade of the cathedral (picture 4). Overall, it is a pleasant place to spend a few hours in.

Since 2014, I had the chance to visit Scotland many times. Recently, I had the opportunity to review the photography I shot there in 2014 and realized I had published just a few shots from this particular year. Still, there were exciting pictures left that I hadn’t uploaded yet. So before I post more recent photographs from Scotland from 2018, I wanted to go back in time and post more of these first formative impressions of Scotland. They are the reason I fell so much in love with this country.

Naples, located at the Vesuvius volcano, and its surroundings were praised by many travelers throughout history. A famous saying states: “See Naples and die!”. The German poet Goethe famously expressed it would be beautiful “even if a few more Vesuviuses were to rise in the neighborhood.” Picturesque is also the coast of Amalfi close by and the island of Capri. The magic happens in the evening, though, when the sun is setting in and the sky turns red, the Gulf of Naples being one of my favorite spots in the world for sunsets.
