Lucerne in Summer

Lucerne is situated in the central part of Switzerland. The location of the city is magnificent, not only is there a large lake in front, but also a a “private” mountain called Pilatus. The city itself is beautiful too, with historic city walls and an old wooden bridge across the river Reuss. The pictures were shot in late summer / early autumn of 2021.

Nature of Latvia

Last summer I had the privilege to spend again some weeks in Latvia. The country situated in the center of the Baltics in Northeastern Europe. The population is concentrated mostly in the capital Riga and in other larger cities, while the countryside still maintained a lot of charm and beauty which is already gone elsewhere in Europe. Some impressions.

Greek Series: Around the Gulf of Corinth

This post is part of the so called “Greek Series”, consisting of photographies I shot while backpacking Greece in September 2013. You’ll find a basic introduction to the series here and the last post featuring Mykonos and Delos can be accessed here.

In this one I recall our journey around the Gulf of Corinth, visiting small villages and larger cities. But mostly it is all about beauty nature and the all present sea.

Greek Series: Mykonos Part I

This post is part of the so called “Greek Series”, consisting of photographies shot while I was backpacking Greece in September 2013. You’ll find a basic introduction to the series here and a list of all previous posts over here.

So you may wonder how we got from Nauplia to Mykonos. The truth is we didn’t, at least not directly. Mykonos was actually one of the last destinations on our journey. Before we embarked on a ferry to the islands we travelled around mainland Greece quite extensively. But for today I skipped the Peloponnes because the weather there was not always perfect and as much as I like archeological stuff and hilly landscapes, I think the blog and I myself needed a bit of summer island feeling in these (more or less) harsh and dark winter days. And that we definitively had on Mykonos. Still there is a lot to cover on the Peloponnes and many shots are left, so next time we come back to mainland Greece again. But for now: Hope you enjoy beautiful Mykonos as I saw it.

Road Trip trough Southern Styria

On a rainy day like today when water droplets are smashing against the window I like to sort pictures and take a look back. I was very fortunate to come around a lot this summer due to my work in travel management. My first vacations though I enjoyed a week ago in my home country. Southern Styria is a beautiful piece of land in the far south of Austria close to the Slovene border. It is well known for agriculture and wine production especially. The smooth green hills are perfectly fitted for vinyards, the wines tend to be mild and sweet. Due to the beautiful landscape and the great cuisine Southern Styria became a major tourist destination In the last couple of years. Today you see the growing wealth in a region which was one of the poorest in Austria a few decades ago. I very much recommend a visit.
